BODY LANGUAGE
A CAT'S BODY LANGUAGE :) The contented cat: -Muscles will be relaxed. -Cat will be seated quietly with ears erect, indicating that she is alert and carefully watching what is going on but comfortable. -Soft purring. -Greating a human with head lowered, hindquarters raised, tail held straight up. -Tail tip slightly bent and moving from side to side. -Rubbing cheeks, whiskers and tail against human...scent marking. -Winding between human's legs or jump on lap. -Pupils bright and normal -Whiskers relaxed. The frightened cat: -Muscles tense -Remain in a frozen, fixed position while assessing the situation. -Eyes will remain fixed on what is frightening the cat. -Dilated pupils -May assume a submissive type body position, crouching down, ears flattened side ways, tail held low and chin drawn in. -May roll on side with paw raised in defensive position. -Bristled tail. The defensive cat: -Growl, hiss or spit -Arch back...either while laying down or standing up. -Fur along back will bristle -Display fangs with mouth wide open -Adopt sideways stance hoping to appear larger and more menacing. -Tail arched and bristled. -Ears flattened. -Whiskers bristled The attacking cat: -Tail low to ground, bristled and swishing rapidly back and forth. -Crouching low -Ears pricked are furled back -Pupils reduced to slits...helps focus on target. -Whiskers bristle forward for advance warning of potential danger -Claws extended. -Mouth open wide wide with lips curled and fangs bared. -Snarls, hissing and spitting will continue.  Just a picture which I found and edited it. I've been to the SPCA early this year and when I was there one of the volunteers shared a story to me. As we all know, quite a number of pet owners abondan their pets at the SPCA. A few weeks back[from the day I went to the SPCA], a pet owner came to leave his pet, a dog. When he came in to the reception, he kicked the door open, and grumpily, said to one of the volunteers there that he did not want his dog anymore. The volunteer then told him something[which I forgot] and he went out to show his dog. It was sitting there diligently waiting for its owner. After knowing that the volunteer have seen the dog, the owner just walked off. Obediently, the dog went to follow him. The owner then turned back and shouted to the dog to go in back, but the dog just sat and stare at him. He carried the dog and threw him on the floor[angrily]. The volunteer was stunned by his act and immediately went to the dog. By the time, the owner already left. The dog was looking down and when the volunteer lifted its head up, she could see tears rolling down the dog's eyes. If I'm not wrong the dog has been put to sleep or have been adopted.

Let us not forget about domestic animals either! In 2007, the SPCA investigated 876 cases of alleged abuse. Many of which complaints related to dogs being confined. Pictured here are some of the cases that SPCA has had to investigate in response to reports by concerned members of the public.   
..Dog owners need to know the importance of providing freedom of movement and adequate socialisation for their animals. Dogs that are constantly confined or tied up on a daily basis and they not only face physical restrictions, but can develop psychological problems as well. Imagine if we were subjected to such conditions – What would the effects be? ???<p> How can YOU help? Well, if you observe an act of animal abuse, whether deliberate or unintentional, don’t just walk away. Call the SPCA and they will send their Inspector to investigate.

Do Not Abandon Your Pets! To rear a pet is a life time commitment. Often, we find people abondoning their pets, such as cats or dogs. This adds to the huge number of stray cats or dogs around Singapore. This is partially because of the irresponsible owners who abandon their pets as and when they want to. To avoid the increasing amount of stray animals, owners should adopt pets at places such as the SPCA rather than buying one. This is to reduce the amount of animals left at the SPCA to be put to sleep since the SPCA is not big enough to fit all the pets. responsible pet ownership

HOHO. My neighbour and I first took care of Naughty when she was 3 months old (2003) and now, she has about 6 batches of kittens, which have their own batches too. @_@ Sadly, some died and some went missing. Naughty will be sterillised soon :D Tigu and Pokkie are already sterillized^^ -may not be in chronological order- 2004-  2008-  Naughty's 3rd batch of kittens -Chips, Chipzo and Cookie?  Chipzo  Naughty's 4th batch -Tigu and cant rmb who  Tigu, 3months old  And then after that, i took care of Tigu like my own :D   meanwhile, Naughty gave birth again -_- Melissa Lim Jen with Naughty's 5th batch  Amai [ah-ma-yi], Ichigo A video of them. YAY! but quality is bad. xD so is the camera person :X haha. then theres Tigu's first batch :D OMG THATS POKKIE!!!!AHAHAH.

POKKIEEEEE- the one on the left ahahah. one fell ill and died. My uncle abducted the rest and gave them away when i wasnt around.. and so, im left with POKKIE >< after that, my OTHER neighbour dumped a kitten, 1 week older than Pokkie, with me. POKKA! (u can see Pokkie's legs from here)  and the mess she created  Pokka  Pokkie  Pokka  Pokkie  Pokka's first batch with Tigu's second batch. YES, THEY GOT PREGNANT AT THE SAME TIME.    MOLE! and her sibling!  Tigu's second batch!:D     so life continued with Pokkie, Pokka and her kittens. HAPPY FAMILY:D    Mole  BUT SOMETHING TRAGIC HAPPENED. So, only Pokkie remained. T-T Pokkie turned emo for awhile xD    Naughty's other batch of kittens once again -_-   the same kitten from the air-con! Time flies :D :) found these two cats BUT SOMEONE STOLE IT -.- CLAIMING THAT THE ACTUAL OWNER GAVE IT TO THEM    POKKIE ALL THE WAY!         He killed a cockroach :D    BTW, he sleeps at 9pm everyday, on the couch but will change position from time to time     JUST FOUND OUT abt Naughty's new batch of kittens. My neighbour is finally going to sterillize her and her kittens! WHOOO!         OH OH AND THERE'S THIS VERY NICE LADY WHO KEEPS ALOT OF CATS. she provides them will food, medicine.. EVERYTHING! but the only prob is the space constraint. hehe I KNOW LA, THE VID QUALITY IS ALL SUPER BAD.. cos im always looking at the cats instead of the screen. :X LOVE MUSHROOM FAN BYEBYE. |
